Why Canva Premium Matters: At York University, student clubs are at the heart of campus life. By organizing events that foster social connections and student development, our clubs serve to promote a vibrant and inclusive community. However, many clubs face challenges in creating the professional-grade materials needed to promote their initiatives, stay organized, and attract students. That’s where Canva Premium comes in.

Canva is a powerful graphic design platform that helps users create stunning content quickly and easily. While the free version is helpful, the Premium version unlocks critical features like advanced templates, branding kits, and collaboration tools for teams. 

How Canva Premium Empowers Clubs:

Streamlined Collaboration: Canva Premium allows club members to work on projects together in real time, promoting efficient communication and shared contributions within volunteer-led organizations.
Consistent Branding: With branding kits, clubs can establish a professional identity and maintain consistency across all communications.
Enhanced Outreach: Access to premium templates and design assets ensures that clubs can produce eye-catching, high-quality content that engages students and stakeholders. 
Professional Standards: For clubs communicating with sponsors, alumni, and external partners, Canva Premium ensures their materials meet the highest standards of professionalism.

The Problem: Unfortunately, not all clubs can afford the cost of Canva Premium. Smaller or underfunded clubs are left at a disadvantage, while better-funded groups can access tools that amplify their efforts. This creates inequity and limits the ability of all clubs to thrive.

Our Solution: We’re calling on the York University Federation of Students (YFS) and the Student Community & Leadership Development (SCLD) to:

Provide Free Canva Premium Access: Offer each ratified student club a Canva Premium account for the academic year.
Negotiate Discounts with Canva: If full funding isn’t feasible, work with Canva for Education to secure group discounts for all ratified student organizations.
