Grant Full Time UPS/Teamsters Transfers
The Issue
UPS & Teamsters are currently in negotiations for the Aug 1, 2023 - July 31, 2028 National Master United Parcel Service Agreement.
Article 21, Sec 6
They are proposing that ALL Part Time Union Employees who wish to transfer to another location for non-educational purposes (as was the only reason allowed previously), may submit a written request to the Employer provided the facilities in question are more than fifty (50) miles apart.(See the Proposed Agreement/Contract for additional language).
It is not being proposed to extend the same policy to Full Time Union Employees.
Adding Full Time Employee Transfers into the contract would only involve a policy change, NOT a monetary change. This is an easy adjustment for UPS & Teamsters to make. They would follow the same policies regarding pension, pay, and building seniority as they are proposing for part time transfers.
Full Time employees at UPS are career positions (10/20/30/35 years). However, life changes happen and your personal life may require you to relocate. Caring for elderly parents, spouse job change/transfer, health of a spouse/child , are just some of these life changes that could require relocation. You shouldn’t have to give up your career and start over, especially when every part timer is now able to do so.
The next time we will be able to fight for this benefit is in 2028. Take a stand now and let the Teamsters & UPS know that your life and the lives of your family matter!
