The Issue

I am one of the millions of taxpayers in India who diligently pays 30% income tax, along with additional surcharges, on my regular income.

Despite this significant financial contribution to the Country and fellow Countrymen, I find myself living in a City, Bangalore, where I suffer due to the lack of basic infrastructural and civic amenities such as Roads, Clean and healthy surroundings and environment, Sports Grounds for Kids for staying positive, healthy and fit. Basic necessities like water supply are either insufficient or entirely absent. I am compelled to purchase drinking and Bathing water.

I am forced to pay for private schools for kids and healthcare due to the inadequacies of municipal and governmental institutions. Moreover, the air quality is polluted, adding to the long list of challenges we face in our daily lives.

Yet, in return for this sacrifice that aims at bettering the lives of the remaining 98% of the population who depend on us, taxpayers receive little acknowledgment or respect. We are a minority who fuels the nation’s growth, funding infrastructure, public welfare, and essential services.

Unfortunately, despite our contributions, our voices are often drowned out, and our needs left unmet. Even a Beggar on the street can slap a Taxpayer in the road with impunity and walk away. That is the status of Taxpayers in India. Cops, Judicial System and Civic and Municipal agencies are all insensitive to the struggles and challenges of Taxpayers and squeeze them at every opportunity possible for doing their duties and often neglect our concerns or de prioritize Taxpayer requests to prioritize some othe Category or Class. Taxpayers has to do their jobs , Pay taxes and yet stand in every queue possible so they can pay bribes to get their work done.

Therefore, it is high time that the Indian government recognize Taxpayers by granting them a Special Status. This status should entail a Taxpayer Card, symbolizing our contributions and giving us priority access and exclusivity in core services such as the judiciary, law enforcement, bureaucracy, healthcare, and education. This card would acknowledge our essential role and ensure we receive due respect from all civil agencies, including municipal bodies and government offices.

Granting special status and privileges to taxpayers will not only acknowledge our sacrifices but also inspire every citizen to aspire to become a taxpayer by seeing tangible benefits. It will create a culture where contributions to the nation are both valued and rewarded, fostering a community that is both proud and motivated to contribute even more.

This will also end Corruption as people will realize they can get a better quality of life be doing their contribution as a Taxpayers and they don't need to engage in corruption to have a respectable , clean and a privileged, Respected life.

Hence, we urge the policymakers and leaders of our nation to take immediate action. Grant special status to taxpayers, so the backbone of our financial system can stand strong and proud. Let us recognize and empower the minority who remarkably sustain our country. Please sign this petition to advocate for the recognition and exclusive rights of taxpayers in India.
