Our children need clean air - stop the Bristol airport expansion!
Why this petition matters

The moment my beautiful baby was born, I felt afraid for her future. Every day I see new reports of how damaging air pollution is to babies, causing potentially lifelong harm. I live near Bristol airport and I’m terrified of what the proposed airport expansion will do to my child. We have to stop the expansion now.
One new landmark study showed that air pollution particles travel through the placenta into unborn babies, causing damage to every organ. The study found that air pollution particles have been found in the hearts and brains of young children.
The paediatrician who led the study directly linked the danger of airport expansion with increased pollution and increased risk to children. People near airports are also more likely to suffer from asthma, respiratory disease and heart problems.
The proposed Bristol airport expansion is huge. It would mean 97,373 aircraft movements in a year - a flight almost every three minutes and an average of 9,500 extra vehicle movements every day.
What damage will this do to my baby and all the other children in the area? What damage has already been done to her while she was in the womb?
The growth of the airport puts the fear in me. My husband and I do as much as we can to reduce our carbon footprint but that feels meaningless when the airport is going to have such a devastating impact on our environment and our health.
We need to breathe clean air, and we need to protect our children. Please sign my petition to STOP the Bristol airport expansion.
