Why this petition matters

Started by John Smith

With fuel prices rising to record highs and the standard rate of £0.45 per mile set by HMRC unchanged for may years, it is time we saw a rise in the reimbursement personal users receive for using their personal cars for work.

Aside from the rise in fuel costs this £0.45 allowance has not seen an inflation linked rise. With the cost of everything going up, purchase prices, service costs, associated maintenance as well as fuel the time for a serious discussion has come to help grey fleet and any individual using their own car to be financially reimbursed at an appropriate level.

If HMRC increases this standard allowance to even £0.50 for the first ten thousand business miles this will assist these working individuals to continue using their personal cars to earn their living unhampered by fuel at current levels.
