As a student of Robious Middle School in Richmond VA, I can speak for all of my fellow classmates when I say that the conditions at my school are far less than ideal under a multitude of conditions. 

The most notable and most important of these conditions is the school lunches. The school lunches at my school are very cheap and by cheap I mean incredibly low quality and it has become quite clear to me over the last 2 years of attending this school that I am not the only one who knows this. All of the people I know dislike the food here as the food often comes partially or improperly cooked or in very small portions. Whilst this is by no means always the case it is also by no means a matter to be ignored. I am no health expert but if I had to guess i would say that the health standards for the food served at this school are tailored to meet the bare minimum in order to meet the very low budget that the school has. 

The other matter that should be acknowledged here is the general hygienic conditions of the school. Whilst the sanitary conditions of my school are not unbearable, they are by no means good, or even decent for that matter. The bathrooms and pest problems are the most notable here. For starters it is not uncommon to find insects crawling around the school (Roaches, Beetles, Flies etc.). Now whilst you definitely wont see them every day you will most likely see quite a decent amount of them if you look hard enough or even just stick around long enough. 

Now for the reason I think it is time to act now. Whilst this is not a particularly time sensitive matter as it is not becoming increasingly worse it would not be right to continue to allow these problems to continue without some sort of effort to make a change (hence why I am creating this petition). Another thing to acknowledge is that I have been made readily aware of the fact that the schools limited budget is not in anyway tied to being stationed in a poor region/county. I say this as the county that I live in makes more than enough money to increasingly fund the local schools in the area. This can also be confirmed by the schools that I know of that have been upgraded and rebuilt (2 that I can name off of the top of my head). The only reason I can imagine that my school has not gotten any sort of upgrade is because no one has spoken up yet. Which is why I hope that this petition might be able to make (even if slight) some difference.
