Grant religious exemptions to vaccine mandates in the public school system

Grant religious exemptions to vaccine mandates in the public school system
The Issue
The right to control one's own medical treatment is an essential one. That right has been unconstitutionally seized by the West Virginia school system by means of their vaccine requirements. The public school system is an essential service provided by the state of West Virginia and should be available to all without discrimination. This is not the case. Parents with religious or cautious medical objections to any vaccine required by the WV Board of Education are put in a situation where they either have to conform to the standard or find an alternative educational option for their families. These options would be either homeschooling or a private school without vaccine requirements, which are few and far between. These are not feasible options for most households in which both parents work, or the family lacks the funds to either educate their children themselves or enroll them in a private institution. The vaccine laws discriminate against those who have religious, moral, and medical convictions about vaccines, especially those in the lower classes who cannot afford the additional financial requirements to homeschool or privately educate their children. This is not only unconstitutional, but it is also wrong. I would ask you to sign this petition requesting that the legislators of West Virginia amend the vaccine laws to allow for religious, medical, and philosophical exemptions to the public-school requirements.
