Hi all, Mr Penning has told a constituent that we can expect an announcement re the consultation with the Police Advisory Board in about a week’s time. In the meantime I have been busy planning the next stage of our campaign. At the suggestion of a supporter, a small group of us will be presenting the comments from the petition to Number 10 Downing Street at 1pm on Monday October 12th. I have had the comments professionally printed and bound. The printing was paid for by kind donations from my campaigning friends on Facebook. The Government is very concerned about the opinion of the tax payer, so they are about to hear from a large number that agree we should be granted parity with Northern Ireland - 11,000 of them. I have been informed that a maximum of 6 people will be granted clearance to enter Downing Street and canter up to the famous shiny door. When I received the news it felt like I had just been ordered to mistreat a puppy - how on earth could I chose 5 people to come with me? So I set about it in a fair and business- like manner. I decided that the people chosen should have attended the Adjournment Debate - without their attendance our campaign would have been swept quietly under the carpet never to surface again. Also having listened to the debate - they will be able to answer questions more fully if the opportunity arises. So here is my final list and all on it have kindly agreed to attend: James Igoe will be representing Scotland – he will have the furthest to travel so a big debt of gratitude is owed to James. Diane Burns will be representing Wales as she spoke with Mike Penning following the debate regarding her personal situation and was assured that she would, "Be ok" regarding the changes. Diane will not benefit however, and so she is coming along as the survivor of an officer that died post retirement. Alex Duncan has kindly agreed to attend to represent the PFEW on one of the four remaining dates in his packed diary. Yours truly will be representing those that have had the audacity to find love again. Dave Conroy will represent the tax paying public that the Government love to talk about - Dave has no connection to the police family, will not benefit personally from the changes and continues to campaign on our behalf. Last but not least, Amanda Keylock will be there as David Cameron's constituent. Amanda will benefit from the changes, but she is still willing to campaign for those of us that won't. My partner John will be the little face peering through the railings at the entrance to Downing Street when the rest of us go in. I am so sorry for those that may have wanted to come and won't be able to - it has been awful having to choose. In the meantime - Jo Bosworth has arranged for me to accompany her to Leicestershire Police’s ‘100 Hundred Years of Policing’ event on the 16th September at their headquarters - we will be promoting both the petition and the campaign. We have had tee shirts printed - a sure sign that our campaigning has become very serious now! Anyone knowing members of the media please contact them and ask them to attend on October the 12th to provide us with much needed media coverage. As always I can be contacted at CathrynHall@outlook.com regarding anything regarding the campaign. I hope that this update has reassured you all that we will continue to campaign until we achieve lifelong pensions for all police survivors overshadowed by the 1987 police pension rules. Dedicated to the cause as always, Cathryn
