Grant more pedestrian safety measures along Mersea road colchester

The Issue

Mersea road is a 2.5 mile straight road. Coming into Blackheath past the Berechurch Hall Road roundabout heading towards West Mersea is particularly dangerous. There are no traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, speed bumps or any other measures to reduce speed or protect pedestrians.

The local councilor Dave Harris has previously applied to have safety measures put in place in 2019 and 2022 but applications were denied.

I am a parent of children whom attend a local school along mersea road and many parents have discussed how dangerous the road is, as well as the dangerous speeds cars get up to.

Many cats and Dogs have been hit along this road and most recently the tragic death of a 13 year old boy has devastated and heartbroken the community.

If this road is left without some basic safety precautions it continues to be a danger to our community.

Please sign in hope Essex highways department of Essex county council will reconsider and add safety measures with immediate effect.
