My story begins with fear and manipulation, at the hands of a man falsely claimed to be the father of my daughter. At her birth, I was threatened into silence, coerced into giving her a surname that doesn't belong to her. This man, who didn't sign my child's birth certificate and who has had no involvement in her life for over a year, has left a lasting mark on us through this name. Even more horrifyingly, he was jailed for rape, leaving a trail of victims in his wake.
