Grant Innocent Feeders & Zoo A Variance To The Ordinance Of Lebanon City
The Issue
I am one of the owners of Innocent Feeders & Zoo. I have been growing this organization to create an educational zoological facility within Lebanon City. We currently have very few activities that is offered to families and our youth within Lebanon County. I have provided a sanctuary for animals since 2020. I created a safe space for youth to learn and utilize leadership skills, self confidence, and be a part of a positive family environment. We had over 45 students this summer and were at over 75 events volunteering with over 55 different organizations within the community. The city council of Lebanon, Pennsylvania needs us to apply for a variance for their ordinance that makes all snakes over 4 ft, all reptiles over 15 lbs, and all birds over 5 lbs illegal within city limits. We take in animals of all kinds from around the world from tarantulas, venomous snakes, and large snakes. We have 3 venomous snakes that we keep to provide education in public zoological displays. We keep them in secured enclosures, within a secured room, and in a secured facility. We have a set of policies and procedures we follow to ensure safety. These snakes are docile and do not feel threatened by humans. It is our goal to educate the public on several species of endangered, keystone venomous snakes to prevent unnecessary deaths of these animals. Humans and venomous snakes can coexist in peace, we want to ensure the correct education is given to prevent future injuries to the public from wild venomous snakes, and to prevent the increasing decline of these important animals to our local ecological environment in Pennsylvania. We offer many science based programs and are steadily working to complete our Wild Life Rehabbers Program to be easily accessible in Lebanon County. We hope you will partner with us and sign this petition to communicate to the Lebanon Council and Zoning Ordinance Board that we need Innocent Feeders & Zoo in Lebanon City.
