Grant Glebe Collegiate With Air Conditioning In All Classrooms

The Issue

Glebe Collegiate Institute lacks air conditioning in most classes to this day.

Air conditioning is very important in schools because it maintains a comfortable temperature and humidity level, which can improve students' concentration, productivity, and overall health. It also reduces the risk of heat-related illnesses during hot weather and dehydration.

Additionally, lack of proper cooling is giving Glebe Collegiate a bad reputation as shown below in the Glebe Report.

Without air conditioning in our school, students experience discomfort, dehydration, and fatigue due to high temperatures and humidity levels. This affects their ability to concentrate and learn, and can even lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke in severe cases. Additionally, students with asthma or other respiratory conditions may experience worsening symptoms due to poor air quality. Not only this, but excessive sweating generates smell, which teachers and staff don’t appreciate either. This also affects teachers by practically forcing them to invest in their own cooling methods for their classroom, which ultimately should be the responsibility of the school. Because of natural climate variability and human-caused climate change. In Canada, these changes are leading to longer and more intense heat waves, which can have serious impacts on human health, making air conditioning become CRUCIAL.

Hopefully this petition can prove how much students value and deserve a reasonable temperature in the building they spend 6 hours every day in.
