Hello all. I am a student and I take AP Government and Politics. I have a civic action project and my focus is on maternity care and pay for families in New Jersey. I believe that if we can get to 2000 petitions, we can get Senator Booker to pass legislation. 

For most mothers, their maternity leave is around 8 weeks, however it takes a woman months to fully recover from childbirth. In addition to the length of the maternity leave, mothers aren’t getting paid fully from their jobs; this can harm them because taking care of a child (or children) is very expensive in the state of New Jersey.

I hope that Senator Booker can craft legislation that would make maternity leave at least a year , and require companies to pay mothers fully and pay fathers ¾ of their leave.
