Green Central Knoll is a vital green space located in the heart of Bushwick. It provides residents with much-needed respite from the bustling urban environment, a place where families can enjoy picnics, children can play safely, and individuals can find solace in nature. However, this essential community resource has remained largely inaccessible to the local residents, restricted by barriers and regulations that limit its use.

Access to local parks and green spaces is not a luxury, but a necessity. Studies have shown that access to parks can significantly improve the mental and physical well-being of community members. According to the Trust for Public Land, city neighborhoods with accessible green space report lower crime rates, stronger community ties, and improved public health. This is why it is crucial that we advocate for the easing of of some of the barriers that currently prevent residents from fully accessing Green Central Knoll.

We propose that the city facilitates open community access to Green Central Knoll. This will ensure that residents of Bushwick can access the park for recreational use without needing to obtain a costly use permit first. 

We urge Councilwoman Gutierrez, the community board, and the NYC Parks Department to take immediate action to make Green Central Knoll accessible to all residents of Bushwick. By doing so, we can transform this green space into a vibrant community hub that serves everyone. Sign the petition to grant Bushwick the green access it deserves.
