Grant At Home Detention for Peter Gliaos
The Issue
My husband Peter Gliaos is currently serving a one-year sentence for graffiti at the Arlington County Detention Facility in Virginia. He is a business owner and a devoted family man — not a danger to anyone.
We are asking the Arlington County Sheriff's Office and the sentencing court to place him on home detention under Virginia Code § 53.1-131.2, which allows suitable offenders to serve their sentence at home under electronic monitoring and strict supervision.
Here's why he deserves this chance:
He has a real, full-time job he can do from home. He runs a legitimate business, and home detention would let him keep it operating — protecting the business and our family's livelihood.
Home detention is still a sentence. He would be electronically monitored, confined to our home except for approved work purposes, and subject to immediate return to custody for any violation. This isn't freedom — it's supervised accountability.
It keeps families together and saves taxpayer money. Home detention costs far less than jail housing, lets him support his dependents and pay fines and court costs, and keeps a working person contributing instead of sitting in a cell.
He has been model inmate , compliant and respectful in custody.
Home detention reduces recidivism, preserves employment, and helps families survive a sentence intact. It is the smart, humane option for non-violent offenders with strong community ties.
Please sign and share. Every signature shows the Sheriff and the court that our community believes in second chances — and in keeping families and businesses whole.
