Tomorrow whilst her siblings are carrying the flag for their scouts group and whilst I carry the cross at church for a moment we will remember Ella. Our hearts go out to all those who have lost loved ones. Ella took Remembrance Day very seriously indeed as she saw her future in the RAF as a pilot. She read at Remembrance services gone by and would make sure her uniform did not have a single crease. I went to see her carry the flag one year at church for her group and I felt she was a different child but I was so proud of her that she understood how much others had given up for her to have the freedom she did. I can’t believe she would have been 14 now and would have been an Air Cadet which she was working towards before she died. In her bedroom still there are planes all over the wall, that has not changed. Her coffin had red arrows over it and although she was only 9, her Cubs flag covered her coffin. I was in shock I couldn’t quite take it in. I didn’t think she would be allowed to have the flag on her coffin as she was so young but her cubs leaders asked permission and it was permitted, it was what she would have wanted. There is a trophy named after her at cubs that the winner takes home every month which is a lovely gesture. Back to the present the Attorney General will be making his ruling after November 19.
