Grant Additional Time for Student Midterms

Grant Additional Time for Student Midterms
The Issue
I, like many other students, find myself with the daunting task of having to answer 67 midterm questions within a limited time frame. This essentially leaves us with 30 seconds per question, significantly impacting our ability to perform well and consequently, our grades.
The struggle isn't isolated to a few students or a single institution. A study conducted by University College London revealed that test performance improves significantly when students are allowed more time to reflect on their answers (Smith, 2015). Therefore, it isn't a case of requesting extra privileges, but a sincere plea for a more considerate and effective examination system.
Our collective academic aspiration is to gain knowledge and improve ourselves. However, the current high-pressure situation only adds to stress and anxiety levels, instead of contributing to our educational growth. Allowing additional time for midterms would give us a fair chance at demonstrating our understanding and aptitude rather than our ability to think under intense time pressure.
In the interest of academic fairness and the genuine evaluation of a student's abilities, we humbly request a revision of the time constraints for all student midterm tests. Help us make this critical change for the betterment of our education. Sign this petition.
