Thousands of people living with an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis in our home state alone.
Upwards of 11.66 million reside in Ohio according to 2017 statistic, 1 in 59 are diagnosed with Autism.
This condition doesn't just affect the person who is diagnosed, it affects families, friends, schools, and communities as a whole. They do not have the same opportunity to have a 'normal' life.
I would love to take my kids to a birthday party without fear of overstimulation or seizure. To not watch my daughter cry because we have to go NOW and it's not fair.
To drop him off at school without fear of getting called back for a meltdown or self-harm due to overstimulating activity.
To go to a park without fear of him wandering, so I can actually play with my daughter as well.
I would love to take him to my daughters sporting events without him being scared of the large crowd. She would also love that. To possibly see him one day participate in a sport himself.
I long for the day I can take him on a walk without fear of him running into the street.
It would mean the world to me to be able to go to family functions again and see Jaxsyn enjoy himself instead of being miserable and overwhelmed.
To take my children to do regular family activities without fear.
To not have my daughter suffer because of her little brother's condition is so severe.
Honestly, I could go on and on... Autism is a very isolating condition and not just for those diagnosed.. for the entire family.
These patients need a safer, more effective option to improve quality of life, long term.
They deserve to have the same opportunity that we all have, a simpler life.
These individuals need a voice.. look at this picture and think of all of those stories, people, just like me that are desperate for help.
They deserve to have their lives back.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. -The Lorax
