I am petitioning to open a tattoo shop in the Rock Hill Sc, The city of Rock Hill zoning rules for my business goes as follows : Separation: Personal services (Type B) must be separated by at least 1,000 feet, measured lot line to lot line, from all of the following: all existing residential uses; all undeveloped residential zoning districts; all undeveloped portions of a Master Planned (MP) zoning district designated for residential use; all religious institution uses; all day care/preschool uses; all school uses (elementary, middle/junior, or senior high); and all public parks.
Other Services: Personal services (Type B) cannot engage in other business or services, including but not limited to the retail sales of goods.
Display Signage: Personal services (Type B) cannot display signage visible from outside the premises that are illustrative of services offered on the premises.
I have found a few suitable location that is within range of the rules and zoning code based on the state law, but the way the city measures the zones is from lot line to lot line(parking lot to parking lot). Dhec is who my business have to answer to which, is state regulated. I am seeking help from the people and the businesses of rock hill that they have no issue with my business opening up, long as it's regulated by the state or a city.
The closest tattoo shops are between 30mins - 1 hour away. Opening a tattoo shop in the city of rock hill will allow a safe place for tattoo artist, and the general public to get tattoos. The current way is getting tattoos in someone's house or go to another city or state. Which should be a option for the client to choose, if they want to travel to another city for tattoos, as well for the artist if they want to work outside the city. If we do not change or work towards getting a shop in the city we will continue to have people tattooing in unregulated and unhealthy areas in the city and clients not receiving the proper tattoo etiquette. We also want to provide a place for the community to learn about tattoos being that there is no other place in the city of Rock Hill for anyone to ask questions about tattoos or go to, unless they travel out of the city roughly 30 mins to a 1 hour or knows and artist personally that will come to they house.
Opening a tattoo shop in rock Hill, South Carolina would also bring more tourism and tax dollars to the city of rock from passing travelers, that are traveling through the city on highway 77. This will also give the people of the city a chance to spend money within their own community for entertainment and bring some life back to the city with this new business, instead of the normal way which is going to the neighboring community of Charlotte North Carolina or surrounding areas for entertainment or tattoo services, being the fact they have roughly over 256-258 tattoo shops. Which makes it hard to find a suitable location for my business because they're over saturated. Rock hill is a middle-age young community that I grew up in and that loves tattoos. How will we operate you ask? We will operate the same way. A hair salon or barbershop would work. We take appointments and or walk-ins. We operate between the hours of 11am to 8pm. We use all disposable products and work with sharps company to dispose of our needles so no one gets poked by a needle in the trash. We also use vegan inks and other skin care products and have a strict aftercare that promotes healthier and faster healing time. Why open a shop now? Now is the time for Growth and expansion. The city is growing rapidly and with the demand for ink growing we need a suitable location that would benefit everyone.
The city allows tattoo shops in the city, with the new zoning codes they implemented in 2022. I've been trying to open this location since September some time and it's made progress. With your help signing this document, it will help us to serve the city to show our business is in no way harmful but more helpful to the public, being that the city has no tattoo shops.
