The Issue

Almost 10 years ago, Lane Waldron made a grievous mistake that has haunted him and many others ever since. It was a moment, an unthinkable decision, that resulted in tragic loss. This is a part of his story – a deeply painful chapter that has shaped his life and the lives of those around him. The pain and the consequences are not something that can ever be undone or forgotten. However, Lane has spent years reflecting on his actions, understanding the magnitude of what occurred, and has taken serious steps towards personal transformation.

Lane is not the same person he once was. He has grown through introspection and soul-searching during his time in prison. He has embraced rehabilitation and demonstrated genuine remorse for his past actions. Countless individuals have seen his transformation and believe in his capacity to lead a different, positive life outside of prison. The justice system should be about not only punishment but also rehabilitation, allowing those who truly seek redemption and change the opportunity to integrate back into society.

A few of my favorite lines from the Bible to share with every one of you;

“But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him.”
— Ezekiel 18:21–22 (KJV)

This petition is not asking anyone to forget what happened. It is asking people to consider whether a person who has spent years facing his mistakes, changing, and seeking to live differently should have the opportunity to prove that change. We believe redemption means something, and that people can become more than the worst thing they have ever done.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

God shows us that people are capable of becoming new. The person someone once was does not have to be the person they remain forever. If God can see the possibility of transformation, I believe we should be willing to recognize it too. Lane cannot change what happened in the past, but he can choose who he becomes from this day forward.

It is crucial to recognize that incarceration was never meant to be indelible. It was meant to be corrective and transformative. With sufficient evidence of rehabilitation, Lane now deserves the opportunity to demonstrate that change is indeed possible. We ask for your support in granting Lane Waldron a second chance at life.

Please sign this petition to appeal to the relevant authorities for Lane’s release, allowing him the opportunity to prove his commitment to change, to make right, and to write a new chapter of redemption.
