Brett Hankison helped save my life on the fatal night of March 13, 2020. After I was shot in my femoral artery, Brett stepped up and assisted me and another officer out of harm's way. His swift actions and bravery during such a perilous time exemplified the true essence of a protector and a hero.

Yet today, Brett faces criminal charges related to the same night. The charges overlook the noble actions he took, which ensured the safety of his fellow officers and may have prevented further tragedy. While the events of that night led to tremendous scrutiny and legal proceedings, it is crucial to recognize and appreciate the lifesaving efforts made by individuals like Brett.
