Roanoke City Council recently refused to pay for a plan that could save our beloved fire station, but we didn’t let it get us down. Instead, we developed our own plan with the Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation and William Huber Architect. In fact, we made two. These new architectural concepts prove it’s possible to save Fire Station No. 7 while giving emergency responders all they need. They even cost less than the city's plan, saving valuable taxpayer dollars! I hate to ask for your help again, but it’s still up to us to convince City Council to change course. CAN YOU TAKE 5 MINUTES TODAY to email them the below message? It’s as simple as cutting and pasting, but it will make all the difference. Council members needs to see that you care about this landmark enough to contact them directly. If you’re local, please also come see the designs yourself and enjoy a free breakfast. We’ll unveil them on March 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM. The meeting will be at CoLab, 1327 Grandin Rd SW, Roanoke, VA 24015. Coffee and pastries will be provided. Thank you for all your passion and support. You continue to inspire me. It also needs historic buildings like Grandin Village’s Fire Station No. 7. Two new plans prove that we can have both—while saving taxpayers like me hundreds of thousands of dollars. Developed by William Huber Architects, a firm focused on preservation with 44-years experience, these plans deserve your immediate attention. Please discuss them with the Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation and do what 5,000+ people have asked you to do—save Fire Station No. 7! If you need more inspiration, look up these historic stations, which have been saved in other cities: D.C.’s Fire Engine Co. 14, Nashville’s Fire Station 16, and Philadelphia's Chestnut Hill Fire Station. I’m asking you to follow their lead. Pick a plan that keeps our community safe and also saves Fire Station No. 7. Sincerely, ADD YOUR NAME
