On March 23rd, 2021, Grand Canyon University and the world suffered the loss of our fellow Lope, Oscar Frayer. He will be forever remembered as a student, friend, and our very own High Flyer. His smile lit up every room he walked in and he had a presence both on and off the court. Oscar had a heart for GCU, the Lopes, and basketball. His game and high flying dunks were admired by Lopes fans both young and old. 

The University posthumously gave Oscar his degree. As the anniversary of Oscar’s passing approaches, we are requesting that the University retire the number 4 and hang his jersey from the rafters, forever remembering Oscar’s legacy as the “High Flyer”.
