For the last five years, Oscar Frayer had been the face of GCU Men’s Basketball team. It was electrifying going in the GCU arena and seeing Oscar take flight. Seeing him get those monster blocks and just seeing him giving his all to a program he was so committed to. Oscar was a favorite of ours. I’m glad I was able to have moments of laughter and good vibes with him and was blessed to call him a brother/friend.

However; I hadn’t personal seen/hung out with Oscar since March of last year, and that’s still eating at me now. I thought I’d get to see him again after all the smoke cleared up from Covid-19. If you knew him, you loved him. From the student body to faculty, and even the general public. Everyone loved Oscar. You couldn’t go anywhere in Phoenix without seeing him on the billboards around town, they even had his face on the public buses and light rails. Oscar was the heart of GCU! 

It is very unfortunate that Oscar was taken from us so suddenly, but we know our high flyer is up there soaring. I want you all to join me in signing this petition to get the higher ups at Grand Canyon University to honor Oscar in what was maybe his favorite place on campus and rename the GCU arena after him. That’s the best way to pay our respects, if you ask me.
