Please drop the charge of unfair election practices against the UMN

Please drop the charge of unfair election practices against the UMN
The Issue
GSWU-UAW has shown that they do not respect the democratic vote on graduate assistant unionization that took place, here, at the University of Minnesota between March 19-23, 2012. In that election, 68% of eligible voters participated and a solid majority of 62% of voters decided against unionization. GSWU-UAW claims that the UMN restricted efforts to organize the union. However, union organizers were able to obtain union cards supporting an election by over 50% of graduate assistants. Based on this fact alone, any unethical practices by the UMN clearly did not affect the ability of union organizers to access graduate assistants. By bringing up these charges against the UMN, GSWU-UAW is harming graduate students as the Bureau of Mediation has reinstated a Maintenance of Status Quo. This means that as long as these charges are being investigated, graduate students will not receive any increase in benefits, including any already promised raises. If you are a graduate assistant, please sign the petition to urge GSWU-UAW to respect the vote and drop the charge against the UMN.
