I’ve read the student handbook from Grace University. This is the same handbook Ms. Powell was required to read prior to attending the university and had full knowledge of prior to attending. Ms. Powell knew what Grace University expected and what the requirements to be part of the student body were. I’ve included an excerpt from page 11 of the Student Handbook:
Outside of heterosexual marriage, interpersonal sexual activity in all of its forms is sin according to God’s Word. Any student involved in sexually immoral behavior, including premarital sex, adultery, and homosexual acts, is at minimum placed on University Probation and may be subject to a Judiciary Hearing (see pp 18-20).
I would hope that any member of the LGBT community wouldn't feel like life owed them a free pass "just" because they were gay. I myself, am not gay. I don't support the gay lifestyle but I also have enough sin in my own life to know I have no right to judge the temptations and trials another Christian will indure.
As a Christian, I do however, have a responsibility to protect other Christians if they are in need…Phil 2:4, Gal 6:2 & 10. Grace University , Executive Vice President, Michael James may be in need. When he receives the 10k - 20k signatures from Ms. Powell's petition, it will feel like the whole world is against him. But in reality it’s just a drop in the bucket of this town of more than 350MM we like to call the United States of America. Let Michael James know also that there are those who support holding “any” individual to the terms in which they agreed. Nobody forced Ms. Powell to walk away and we should all find it unfair that anyone other than Ms. Powell should have to bear the burden of her debt.
I believe as Christian’s that someday soon, we will stand before Christ and have to answer the question as to why we did or why we didn’t raise a finger to help another Christian in need. Eph 6:11 tells us we are equipped with the full armor of God so we may stand against the schemes of Satan. Christians!...let’s do battle!!
Sign the petition and let Michael James, Executive Vice President of Grace University know that he’s in our prayers and has our support.
The LGBT community, at the time of this writing, already has 11k signatures. Pass on to everyone you know…
