Mumbai dreams of becoming Sanghai but infra is 25 to 30 years behind. Each Mumbaiker spends 25% of one's life span commuting crowded trains or bumper2bumper roads filled with vehicular CO2 pollution. Public transports are not adequate and hence witnessing exponential rise of private vehicles in last decade. Already Mumbai is one of most congested city in the world. Govt is building over 350km metro network to address this which requires large amount of land for metro shed/ repair station etc and hence proposal to occupy Aarey land by axing 2700 trees. Against each tree cut, 6 new saplings would be planted by metro authorities. Ecology coverage is more than twice stipulated by Supreme Court of India(3 trees plantation per tree cut). Also, this sapling would be available for verification/ audit. This should be a win-win situation for the city getting an advanced public transport network and at the same time 5 times more trees for ecological balance. Against tree cutting and sapling,few  raising voices to derail Mumbai dreams.
