Post-election violence in West Bengal has been rampant in the near-past as well as in the current times. While the face of political parties enjoy media attention and partake in celebratory events, violence is unleashed on opposition workers. Disturbing media footage displays the destructive side of TMC cadres, while property is being destroyed and families harassed. Times like these cast a shadow on the idea of a healthy democracy. On the other hand, fake news is also being spread in social media by the RSS and other losing parties, to influence and polarize the masses, thereby promoting hate mongering and contributing to tension in disturbed localities. The current situation of corona crisis is being exacerbated by this ruthless hooliganism, leading the lives of people into dire straits. Hatemongering has lead to people becoming homeless and injuries might add on to the already failing health infrastructure of West Bengal. We are signing this petition to stop and take proper steps against these violent acts, unlawful attempts of polarization and curb down such posts with immediate action. We Urge Honorable Governor of West Bengal, Head of All India Trinamool Congress Ms. Mamata Banerjee, Election Commission of India, Director General of west Bengal police and other responsible officers of the state to look into this matter and file charge sheets and take serious action against people who are directly or indirectly involved with such incidents.
