The BANYAN initiative

The BANYAN is an NGO working to help the women suffering from mental health issues.It is situated in Chennai and was founded by Vandana Gopikumar. Apart from medical treatment they also provide physical, psychological treatment and eventually provide them with a job. They are supported by Boehringer Ingelheim and Ashoka.

If we had more such NGO's working selflessly then the burden on the govt mental hospitals could be reduced considerably. As also the stigma attached to govt mental hospital treatment.
