Majuli is the world's largest river island. People has to cross the river Brahmaputra to connect with the outer world. Ferry is the only option of communication. But because of the pathetic ferry service many people lost their lives in the past. People of the island demanding for a bridge since long time. In 2016 before the election in Assam, PM Modi announced about the construction of a bridge and inaugurated it. But in five years they didn't do anything. Last year again they inaugrated the bridge for second time but till now construction progress is zero.

On 08/09/2021, a passenger ferry carrying more than 80 people collided with another ferry. Local people rescued some of them. One young professor lost her life in the accident. And two passengers are missing.

The reason of the accident is the negligence of the authority. The condition of the ferry was pathetic. And the authority do not keep any record of the passengers. Today CM has assured that they will start the construction from November.

1.We demand to start the construction immediately and complete it within four years.

2. Keeping the record of the passengers and do not carry more passenger than the limit.

3. Provide Life jacket equal to the seats in the ferry .

Wake up . I request everyone to raise your voice for the future of Majuli. It's high time to raise our voice. If We don't question the authority they will not stop fooling us.
