Reinstate the Tonbridge to Redhill Southern Rail service

The Issue

IMPORTANT UPDATE. 5 JULY 2016

Just to inform you that Southern Rail have published their emergency timetable:  http://www.southernrailway.com/download/41550.6/00-19-revised-timetable/

The good news is that it appears that the Tonbridge-Redhill service will remain open. The bad news is that it does appear to be reduced. There are also some amendments to times that you should take note of. According to the BBC, this is "a reduced, off-peak service between Tonbridge and Redhill."

I understand from the BBC South East Twitter feed that this timetable will come into effect on Monday 11th July and will be in place for 4 weeks and then be reviewed by Southern.

ORIGINAL PETITION TEXT. 4 JULY 2016

Southern Rail UK is due to publish a new amended timetable on Tuesday 5th July  cutting 350 services a day. According to the BBC, this potentially includes the cancellation of all services on the Redhill and Tonbridge line.

This line is a critical link for commuters and Gatwick Airport users alike. Without it, a round trip adds considerable and unacceptable time to users of this so-called public service. Without it, service users are likely to suffer huge consequences to their work and family lives, and there’s no sign of when this will end.

We want this decision – if the BBC's understanding is accurate – to be overturned by Govia Thameslink; we want them to keep the Tonbridge-Redhill service open and fully serviced; and we want them to improve the reliability of this service in general.

"The BBC understands the Clapham Junction to Milton Keynes and Tonbridge to Redhill services will be completely removed, and trains will be removed from the Littlehampton to Portsmouth & Southsea, Brighton to Southampton and Brighton to Seaford services."
