Dear all

We are to hold an online conference on Sunday 9 May 2021 to update you on the campaign for justice for Belly's family. Details about that will be circulated in the first week of May.

In the meantime, we thank the 817 of those who support the campaign who have already pledged support for the litigation fund. Your support is vital to the success of this campaign for justice.

We are to take on a police force (BTP) funded by billion pound train operating companies, and one of those wealthy corporates, Govia Thameslink Railway, as well as tracking down the white male perpetrator who carried out the alleged assaults on Belly and her colleague Motolani at Victoria Station on 21 March 2020.  They have already deployed top barristers and solicitors to fight every point. Justice will regrettably not be achieved without fiercely fought litigation.

If you can afford to support the crowdfunding for the litigation fund please do so - the site is at https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/justice-for-belly-mujinga/

It is a respectable and professional crowdfunding site that keeps matters confidential. It is used by the Good Law Project among other reputable human rights lawyers and campaigners.

If you know of anyone who might be willing to support the litigation fund please contact them and ask if they will support us.

As I was remarking on social media this week, racial equality (and justice) is not something which is achieved, after death, but from birth. For the family of George Floyd and Belly Mujinga the best that they can now hope for is justice after death, but that is not justice, nor racial equality. However, it is far better than the alternative, which is no justice in this life. And achieving racial equality after death at least keeps hope alive of a better future in which justice exists form birth.

For me, it has always been about what sort of country you want your home to be - one where racial equality exists from birth or one where the best you can expect is some measure of justice after life-destroying injustice.  For me, that is not good enough. We all deserve equal justice from birth and the opportunities that go with that.

Belly's daughter has to live her life, robbed of her loving mother. She is working hard at school and trying to make her mother proud. We must try to do the same through this campaign for justice.

Be well

Lawrence
