Dear All
The lawyers working for the family have acted for free since they started to support the family last Autumn.
We are now entering the litigation stage of the justice campaign.
The British Transport Police ("BTP") are protecting the white male who assaulted Belly and her colleague and although we have complained to the IOPC about that, we will probably need to go to court to force the BTP to release the name to us. Then we can sue the perpetrator in the civil courts and consider a private prosecution.
The coroner's decision on whether or not to hold an Inquest will also be received shortly and if positive we will need to prepare for that Inquest and take statements (and if negative then we will consider an appeal or judicial review of that decision, depending on the reasons given).
The Employment Tribunal has also given permission for the family to sue Govia Thameslink Railway for the racial discrimination Belly suffered at work. We are to issue a claim shortly. ,
Any which way, we now need to fundraise and create a litigation fund for the family to cover court costs, legal fees, expert fees and translator's fees.
We need your help to do that.
Obtaining justice for Belly is not only the right thing to do but it will help all frontline workers who have disproportionately suffered during this pandemic and all BAME workers targeted for racism at work.
Please do what you can to help. If you cannot help financially but know someone who may be able to help please consider enlisting their support.
The crowdfunding page is at CrowdJustice -
