Demand a Plan for CCSD 2020-21 School Year

Demand a Plan for CCSD 2020-21 School Year

The Issue

Students in the Clark County School District (CCSD) lost two months of educational instruction due to school closures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. It is imperative that CCSD learn from this experience and develop a contingency plan for online instruction in the event schools need to close again in the 2020-21 academic year. Our students cannot afford to lose any more instructional time.

As concerned members of the CCSD community, we demand that CCSD approve an educational plan to provide for K-12 instruction during the 2020-21 academic school year, with instruction to begin on August 10, 2020. This plan should be approved no later than June 22nd in order to allow adequate time for implementation.

The plan must include not only face-to-face instruction, if safe, but also online curriculum and training for teachers to implement remote instruction should schools be required to close again.

If CCSD decides to bring students back into the classroom and parents have safety concerns, they should be given the option of keeping their child home without losing their child's spot at their currently assigned school.
