There is a pressing need for affordable, green power in Michigan. However, for residential customers, the up-front costs associated with installing solar or wind converters can be prohibitive.

Because there are no solar leasing programs available in the state, residents must pay the full price of their installations up-front. Every tax incentive will help residents with this burden. Eliminating the 6% sales tax could save thousands of dollars for a typical installation.

Allowing this exemption will improve Michigan's air quality by reducing the emissions from coal-fired power plants, reduce the burden on our power grid, create in-state solar manufacturing and installation jobs, and attract new residents.
