 Gentleman,

In view of the following publishing about the RS state governments's planning regarding "Extinction of Health Production and Research State Foundation (Fepps); of the Zoobotanic Foundation, responsible for the Botanic Garden and the Zoo of Sapucaia do Sul; and of the Sports and Recreation Foundation of Rio Grande do Sul (Fundergs). The activities of these structures will be absorved by the secretaries wich they are bound to: Health (Fepps), Environment (FZB), and Turism, Sports and Recreation (Fundergs)". Published on the journal "Zero Hora", we come to claim the dialogue and urge so as these measures should NOT be taken. This important public organ wich acts on the research, conservation and education, fundamental activities for the existence of a noble nation and in harmony with the environment, should not be used as a populist currency of trade and signaling of fiscal adjustment. The wildife is on an enormous risk of disapearing or turn more impoverished in terms of diversity, in case such policies are made.

The Zoobotanic foundation is also responsible for the endagered list of RS's flora wich was updated in 2014, beyond the Zoological Park and Botanic Garden in wich the Natual Science Museum is a part of and also ocmpletes 60 years of existence in 2015.

The last study accomplished by the FZB estimated that "the Rio Grande do Sul has 280 species of its fauna in some degree of threat of extinction (Vulnerable, Endangered or Critically Endagered), beyond the already extinct 10 species. This means that there are endangered 22% of the mammals, 18% freshwater fish, 16% anphibians, 11% reptiles and 14% of Rio Grande do Sul's native birds. The list, coordinated by the Zoobotanic Foundation (FZB), with support from the State Secretary of Environment (Sema), is the result of the work of 129 specialists from 40 institutions who analyzed the state of conservation of 1,6 thousand species".

That way, we believe that the wildlife situation can be agravated if such policies are taken forward. When a species enters an endangered list, it's a step closer to extinction, and when it does disapear, it is not only our state that gets poorer, but the entire universe too. So, extinguishing fundamental foundations and institutions that act on the study of understanding and conservation of life would be unfortunate.

On the above, we claim the nonocurrence of the extinction and privatization of this important organ that magnifies science, nature and democracy at the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

Certain of a sensible and coherent evaluation from the legislators, we sign.
