protect Jamaica Bay NOW
Jamaica Bay is at risk help NOW! When I saw in a local newspaper that governor Cuomo vetoed the jamaica bay bill once again I could not believe my eyes.
Please support the Jamaica Bay bill (bill S.7295/A.9595) that will be an extension of the 2014 law that will expire this year on June 30. This bill will help the wildlife that depend on a healthy Jamaica Bay, by preventing the harmful dredging and filling of the borrow pits with unhealthy material that is detrimental to the environment. Wildlife such as fish, birds, sharks, seals, horseshoe crabs, oysters, beach plums, milkweed, salt marsh cordgrass, salt meadow cordgrass, and much more live in and depend on Jamaica Bay. See the link below for more details on the bill https://www.nysenate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/joseph-p-addabbo-jr/addabbopheffer-amato-jamaica-bay-protection-bill-goes https://www.change.org/protectjamaicabayNOW
I am a sixth-grader living in Rockaway right next to Jamaica Bay. When I go to school right in front of Jamaica Bay I can see this beautiful natural sanctuary. As an 11 year old I understand the importance of it, why can't the governor. Please sign now before it’s too late.
Thank you
