Why this petition matters

Started by Jan Vyse

Governor Newsom has closed restaurants again - I don’t understand?  We can go to Walmart, Target, Home Depot and Lowes where people are picking up items and putting them back on the shelves, we can get really close to our hairdressers, our nail techs, go to the casinos mingling with people and touching machines straight after each other, we can even protest, shoulder to shoulder right?  However we can’t go into a restaurant to sit down at a table that has been disinfected/sanitized between guests, given sanitized wrapped cutlery, condiments.  Where we are offered sanitizer at the door and at every table.   We are given QR codes to see the menu on our own ‘phones or disposable menus if we prefer.  The tables are separated by both plexiglass or glass as well as distance.  The staff are all keeping as far away as possible for safety, they’re wearing masks and constantly washing their hands.  They no longer have private medical rights because we have to take their temperatures and check if they have any symptoms as they walk in the door?  Now I have nothing against those other businesses and them being allowed to open but could someone explain to me why EVERY restaurant and bar have been singled out.  I could understand if it was a particular restaurant or bar who weren’t taking the virus and the health guidelines seriously but no, it’s a blanket closure no matter how careful and compliant they have been?   It’s NOT being spread by clean restaurants !

And don’t we all as citizens get to choose where we go - if you don’t want to enter a restaurant nobody makes you, in the same vein you shouldn’t be stopped either.   You have a choice, we all have a choice.  Shouldn’t adults be able to make grown up decisions by checking out the safety of businesses they’d like to visit?  Totally disappointed with decisions made by Newsom on this matter and there are many, many others that see the hypocrisy of it.  People would respect you more if you told them to decide for themselves what they want. The decision is unconstitutional and we need your help to fight this.  Please sign our petition
