Proposition 57 was an initiated California ballot Proposition,  approved on November 8, 2016 ballot. The Proposition allows parole consideration for non violent felons, changes policies on juvenile prosecution, and authorizes sentence credit for rehabilitation, good behavior and education.

On December 28, 2020 The California Supreme Court issued a unanimous ruling, which stated that prop 57 contained "No indication that the voters intended to allow the department to create a wholesale exclusion from parole consideration"  Sacramento County  Superior Judge Chang ruled in favor of plaintiffs. Chang stated that " the Attorney General abused her discretion" by approving the amendment to prop 57, agreeing with the plaintiffs that the changes significantly altered the purpose and provisions of the originally filled initiative.

Chang Also stated in her ruling that the ammendment in question amounted to "the type of mischief that the legislature had in mind when it made the laws prohibiting that ammendment unrelated to the original initiative could not be made without refilling the initiative. The court concluded that prop 57 passing," any person convicted of non-violent felony offense is eligible for parole consideration and eligible when they complete the full term for their primary offense. This group includes those who had enhancements under the Three Strikes Law.

We Demand CDCR  follow Proposition 57 and begin to include those with enhancements and Three Strikes Law to go before the Parole Board According to the Institutions , they are waiting for headquarters to be given instructions on how to proceed with non-violent with enhancements and Three strikes Law.Stop picking and choosing who qualifies and who doesn't .It is written clearly in prop 57 all non-violent cases get to go before the Parole Board for consideration of release. Kathleen Allison,  Governor Newsom and Xavier Becerra give the orders to implement immediately what the voters passed by 64% in 2016. We are in 2021 and are still having to petition what rightfully belongs to the people. We demand justice and liberty for our incarcerated people.
