I am calling to urge Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez to support #AB1007, the Compensation for Survivors of Forced or Involuntary Sterilization Act, which is currently in Assembly Appropriations. Black, Indigenous, Latinx, incarcerated people, people with disabilities, and poor people, have been disproportionately impacted by state policies that seek to control our bodies. These are the same populations devastated by COVID-19. Survivors of state sanctioned sterilizations cannot wait another year. It's time for California to confront a violent history that continues to affect and rob our communities of the right to decide if and when to have a family. I urge the Assemblymember to put an end to California's legacy of eugenics by supporting AB1007."
