Why this petition matters

Started by M S Ochieng

The Nairobi City Dog Pound fulfills an important service in urban public health.  Its dedicated staff are responsible for the safe collection and housing of stray dogs, for their care and feeding, the management of their kennels, and for assisting with rehoming and adoption of the dogs to minimize the amount of time the animals spend impounded.

On a regular basis, funds allocated to the Pound for food and other life necessities for the animals are not released, leaving staff to either watch the dogs starve or use their own scarce personal resources to chip in.

Many citizens were shocked and horrified to read this article outlining the crisis: https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001340275/inside-nairobi-city-s-dog-pound-where-man-s-best-friends-are-going-hungry?fbclid=IwAR0rOrUwspELVzwAcB3KwuD83kDoxAuWHR6JLeniRKY4eAk_4SuvpRGqXRk

This can change.  The Nairobi County Government has the capacity and resources to ensure that the City Pound has all it needs.

Join us in telling Governor Mike Sonko: this dire situation needs to change and it needs to change now!
