On behalf of the citizens of Maryland,

The purpose of this letter is to communicate the dire circumstances of the unemployed in our State. While you’ve acknowledged the dilemma and technical difficulties, little to no progress has been made for hundreds of thousands of us. 

We’ve been holding on so far, but the time has come for immediate change. Our mortgage companies, BGE, phone service, car notes, grocery stores, and other companies don’t care that our income has been erased. The most they offer is deferment of forbearance, and that often means that late penalties are suspended but the whole bill comes due when this is all over. 

We live in an age where so much is possible. We put a man on the moon over 40 years ago. 

The challenge at hand has a better solution than the one in place. 

We are asking the following:

1) Waive all qualification hold ups and get money distributed until time allows for accurate determination. 

2) Source massive telephone and social media support (messaging) from third party agencies to assist with questions. 

3) Give raises to all Department of Labor employees and call center workers.

We hope you hear our plea. We’ve entered a chapter where people are considering taking their own lives.
