Emergency Appeal: Extend the Eviction Moratorium & End Evictions
The Issue
Dear Governor Hochul and New York State Legislature,
As people of faith, we are astounded at your callous announcement on January 11, 2022 that you intend to allow the eviction ban to expire on January 15th. We pray that the spirit of justice and love will change your heart. In the face of 250,000 eviction cases representing millions of people, mass illness, and death, you must do what's right.
Specifically, we ask that you immediately:
° Extend the eviction ban through the end of June 2022.
° Abolish winter evictions.
° Abolish evictions without cause.
As you know, we have written to you before, asking that you stand up for your fellow human beings. We renew our call with the utmost urgency. Heed the call of justice and love.
