I am a 13 year old girl in the state of Oregon, and I believe that all animal rescues in my home state - and everywhere - absolutely need more funding. Animals are left staying in cages that are barely big enough to turn around in. That is no way for animals to live, especially when more pets are being stuck in shelters every year. In fact, every year, about 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized because the shelters are without enough room, and there are not enough adoptive homes. If shelters had more space, so many of these loving furry friends would not die every year. These shelters do so much good, but without enough money, there is not as much they can do. Also, many animals die on the streets, or are abused by their owners. Shelters take in these animals and nurse them back to health. However, if they do not have enough space, they cannot take in as many animals, therefore raising the death rate immensely. I cannot stress enough how important this is to me, and the state provides very little to no funding for these places. Something should be done.
