We would like the Redmond School District (RSD) to be granted permission to safely provide in-person learning during the fall of the 2020-2021 school year.  This petition asks Governor Kate Brown to consider positive COVID-19 cases from within the RSD community separately from Deschutes County due to the fact that the majority of positive cases have been identified from zip codes that fall outside of our school district boundaries.  

Positive cases from the communities that make up the RSD (Redmond, Tumalo, Terrebonne, and Alfalfa) have averaged 7.6 positive COVID-19 cases per week since January 24, 2020.  By grouping the RSD with the surrounding areas that do not represent our student population, our children are unnecessarily prevented from returning to the classroom.
