Declare a state of climate emergency in Louisiana
The Issue
As governor of Louisiana please declare a state of climate emergency and take immediate concrete steps to implement effective measures to address and contribute to ending human caused climate disruption, which has brought about the sixth mass extinction. “Unite behind the science.” (GT) We urge you and all state agencies and representatives responsible for the health and well-being of the People, wildlife and natural habitat to address specific risks to residents, including but not limited to: 1) ban any & all industrial activity that is contributing to excessive GHG emissions, and/or pollution of our water, air or farmland 2) begin diligently implementing and scaling up relevant solutions as outlined in Draw Down: the most comprehensive plan to reverse global warming https://www.drawdown.org/ 3) support the Green New Deal 4) actively participate in rapidly transitioning to Regenerative Agriculture (to stop the spread of both flooding and desertification) and clean renewable energy, working together with other Gulf Coast states, the federal government and neighboring countries, as needed 4) implement and invest in the necessary measures to increase resilience and survival rate of humans and native Gulf Coast animal and plant life. We are the ones, through our actions, who will determine the survival of the human race. Project Draw Down is literally a list of 100 solutions to end climate disruption and restore balance and health to the Earth. In every instance, the benefits and savings far outweigh the costs. All high level business stakeholders in addition to all members of society who are also natural stakeholders, must be enlisted in this effort immediately. Everything and everyone that we cherish are depending on us to take action now, together. You are going to want to be able to tell your children and grandchildren that you did everything you could to ensure a livable future for them.
