Currently, there are recent graduates of nursing programs that need to take the registered nurse licensing exam (NCLEX ).  All Pearson Vue testing centers have closed due to COVID-19 precautions. Without taking this exam, new graduates are unable to assist in providing care to those who need it and are unable to provide relief to those RNs already working tirelessly during this pandemic.

Testing facilities could allow testing with limited number of testers at a time, following the social distancing rules of indoor spaces of less than 10 and 6 feet apart.  Testers would be screened for symptoms, wash hands thoroughly and wear gloves during the computerized exam. Allowing testing to take place would improve both patient care and healthcare morale by providing additional nursing staff needed during this difficult time.

Allowing those with expired licenses and the ability to cross state lines isn’t enough to keep ahead of the growing number of patients that are in need.  We need all hands on deck, including those who only need to take a single exam to be able to help.
