The petition in support of the 20-year retirement has garnered nearly 3,500 signatures in just one week – and the signatures have come from every corner of the state and from a broad range of supporters representing law enforcement, families, sportsmen, environmentalists, and preservationists. This type of support can’t be ignored.
Today, The Citizen newspaper in Auburn, NY published a story on this petition initiative and the need to provide retirement parity for officers represented by the PBA of New York State. This morning, the Empire Report news website promoted this story to a statewide audience that includes our elected representatives and policy makers in Albany.
YOU are making a difference with your support of this effort, and this effort is ongoing. So, we again ask that you each recruit at least one more person to sign our petition. Share a link to your Facebook page, Tweet to your followers, and talk about it with your friends.
There is an expression in politics, “you’re more likely to get someone’s vote if you ask for it.” This is no different. I am asking you to ask your friends, family, and colleagues for their signature and support. Let’s leave no stone unturned!
Thank you for your continued efforts,
James McCartney
