Our schools and childcare facilities are forced to abide by the SC school and childcare exclusion list. While this is beneficial within reason for most illnesses, the current protocols and policies in place in regards to Covid are unacceptable.

We have been at this 2 years and have learned a lot about covid and kids. Parents who want their children vaccinated now have that opportunity. It’s not 2020 anymore and we need to revamp the way our schools handle Covid.

Currently under the DHEC guidelines; testing, contact tracing, quartering, and school shut downs seem to be the norm. The reality is covid should be reevaluated and treated just as we have the flu, strep, and other comparable viruses. 

The current protocols and requirements schools are forced to follow are causing excessive and additional hardship/work for teachers administrators and staff. They also are preventing kids from their education and making it so that schools cannot remain operational. 

Schools all over SC are facing staffing issues as well as kids missing out on a unreasonable amount of school simply for the POSSIBILITY they may become sick. The protocols and procedures  in place no longer make sense and are not sustainable. 

Because of these DHEC guidelines children are being harmed more then helped. We need change.
