In September 2020 our SC representatives voted for and our governor signed into state law ACT 176, a new Income Tax and Business Licensing Law including a set of requirements to be used to “tax” and “license” business of any kind and by anyone or any entity, in certain jurisdictions of our state.

ACT 176 Is incredibly destructive to people and business of every kind, it says it’s a privilege to do business, it requires SPYING for enforcement, it includes AUTOMATIC TAX RAISES, it gives more power to municipal clerks and administrators than an IRS agent has and it stops job creation in our state.  It must be repealed IMMEDIATELY. 

ACT 176 defines doing business in certain jurisdictions is a privilege. *sec(2)(a)

ACT 176 mandates taxpayer funded SPYING in search of non-compliant business behaviors and that section was made effective immediately so they have been spying since October 2020 in certain jurisdictions. *sec 6-1-410 (A)(D)

ACT 176 Includes AUTOMATIC INCOME TAX RAISES every two years to be determined by the South Carolina Municipal Association & Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office.  *sec 2E(G)(1) 

These are just some examples of what is terribly wrong with this new state income tax and licensing law and that is why we ask that ACT 176 immediately and completely, be repealed.
